The Patient Monitor was the first electronic physical product I worked on as a sound designer. The sounds were intended to provide situational awareness of patient vitals to the roaming medical staff in the hospital -- e.g. normal heartrate, cardic arrest. The project began with clearly defined guidelines for audio. Each sound file was carefully synthesized to spec, with precise harmonic representation and attack/sustain/release/decay envelope for each sound effect. The product was eventually released and used in hospitals. Special thanks for Joel Carlo, who assisted me with the sound design.
